StageQ has announced shows for their 17th Season running 2018 – 2019. This five show season includes a Broadway musical classic, a local-written original play, and of course our annual Queer Short festival.

Southern Baptist Sissies
Written by Del Shores
Directed by Z M Stowe

This story follows the journey of four gay boys in the Southern Baptist Church as they try to create a world of love and acceptance in the churches and clubs of Dallas, Texas, while desperately trying to find a place to put their own pain and rage.

Running Two Weeks Only: September 14 – 22
Tickets: $20

A Lady and a Woman
Written by Dr. Shirlene Holmes
Directed by Janine Gardner

This critically-acclaimed love story recounts the courage of African-American women in the late 19th century using folklore and interlocking themes of spirituality and sexuality in the setting of a small southern town to tell the story of two women who find in each other the courage to begin a new life.

Running Two Weeks Only: October 26 – November 3

Tickets: $20

Cabaret
Music by John Kander
Lyrics by Fred Ebb
Book by Joe Masteroff
Directed by Steve Noll
Music Direction by Evan Lange
Choreography by Lyn Pilch

The classic musical by Kander and Ebb gets a gritty update as the Emcee, Sally Bowles and a raucous ensemble take the stage nightly to tantalize the crowd – and to leave their troubles outside. But as life in pre-WWII Germany grows more and more uncertain; will the decadent allure of Berlin nightlife be enough to get them through their dangerous times?

Running March 15 - 30
Tickets: $30

RAID! Attack on Stonewall
Written by Malissa Petterson
Directed by John Siewert

An original work, commissioned by StageQ; this fully immersive experience will transport audiences back to the Stonewall Inn on the night of the infamous raid. As the stories of Stonewall’s owners, patrons, and employees interweave and unfold, the raid that started the near-week-long riots places the audience between the people who could live as themselves within the confines of the ill-fated bar and the police sent to crush their spirits.

Running Two Weeks Only: April 19 - 27
Tickets: $20

Queer Shorts: Spirit of Stonewall Written and Directed by Various Artists

Anger, rebellion, and unyielding pride. Stories of overcoming persecution and bigotry, stories of love triumphing over hate, stories of perseverance and acceptance. The goal is to present stories of how our community has risen over the past half century and where our community is heading in our continuing fight for visibility and equality.

Running June 14 - 29
Tickets: $20
